Joshua Airport interfered with the plans of many travelers over the weekend as LIAT was forced to divert and cancel flights for safety reasons. Given that it is a long holiday weekend in St. Vincent for ‘Vincy Mas’ their annual carnival a lot of travelers were inconvenienced however Mustique Airways and Grenadine Air Alliance moved to accommodate stranded outbound and inbound passengers. LIAT added additional flights out of Barbados on Sunday night where they had been taking passengers booked from other islands to ensure that most revelers arrived in time for J’ouvert on Monday morning.

High winds at E.T. Joshua frequently cause issues for aircraft chiefly for the fact that a Go-Around is a risky maneuver given the location of the airport. It is the only airport on the main island of St. Vincent in the collection of islands known as St. Vincent and the Grenadines. A new international airport is being built at Argyle to replace E.T. Joshua and is expected to be completed by 2017.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
